— Miriam Paris

Issues That Matter
Miriam Paris is focused on practical policies that expand opportunity and protect families across Georgia House District 142.
Public Education
As a senior member of the House Education Committee, Rep. Paris understands that stronger families create strong communities—and that foundation begins with a quality education. She is a steadfast advocate for strengthening public schools, empowering educators, and fostering open lines of communication for parents and students.
Rep. Paris also authored the first-of-its-kind bipartisan financial literacy legislation, designed to teach grade school students the fundamentals of financial responsibility. This forward-thinking measure will equip young learners with the practical skills they need to navigate an uncertain economy, including how to save, spend, and invest wisely.
Affordable Housing
As a REALTOR, I’ve seen firsthand how soaring mortgage rates, rising home prices, and escalating rents have put the dream of homeownership out of reach for too many Georgians.
Alongside my colleagues, I am committed to fighting for real solutions that hold out-of-state and absentee landlords accountable and prevent the exploitation of hardworking families striving for stability and opportunity.
Equality for All
Rep. Paris understands from personal experience why equality for all is essential. Born during the height of the Civil Rights Movement, she was reared by parents and grandparents who did more than just talk the talk about justice—they actively fought against discrimination, injustice, and inequality.
Grounded in that legacy, she firmly believes that “injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere.”
Women’s Rights
Miriam Paris understands that standing strong for women’s rights is essential to effective leadership. Whether it’s protecting voting rights, ensuring equal pay, or safeguarding reproductive and bodily autonomy, she believes these are not just policy issues—they are fundamental human rights rooted in dignity and fairness.
In celebration of the contributions of women across Georgia, she proudly co-chairs the annual “100 Women” event each March in honor of International Women’s Day. This initiative highlights the accomplishments of women who are too often overlooked, recognizing their impact and uplifting their voices within their communities.
Expanding Access to Public
Meetings Through Child &
Senior Care
Too many DC residents are locked out of civic participation simply because they cannot find or afford care for their loved ones. This policy focuses on making public meetings accessible to parents, caregivers, and seniors by removing structural barriers to participation.
Public Meeting Access
&
Care Support Act
This legislative proposal ensures District agencies hosting public meetings provide on-site childcare and senior care support. The goal is to increase civic engagement across all eight wards and ensure equitable access for working families, caregivers, and older residents.
